Wish You Were Here

Wish You Were Here is a set of 13 hand-stamped postcards reflecting moments of quiet. This series was created during the beginning of the pandemic as a visual response to the feeling of longing and companionship. The cards invite the user to empathize with the moment and visualize themselves expereincing them.

This series captures subtle moments of beauty that we may not notice in our day-to-day lives such as the beauty of watching snow fall or the anticipation of tie breaker in the last second of a game. These cards were created as persional project in conjuction with my MFA thesis, the intention was to make myself stop and remember all the moments of pure joy and companionship I felt throughout my life, including all the moments I wish I could have spent with people I love. At the time, like most of the world in 2020, I hadn’t seen my closest friends and I lost several people I cared for. These cards invited moments of quiet both in the process of creation and as viewer and gave me time to think about the positive aspects of distance, how it can you perspective.
